Elise Rae Celebrations

Duly Authorised Human Joiner. Party Starting Celebration Specialist. Storyteller Extraordinaire.

Hi, I’m Elise.

I’m a Far North Queensland wedding celebrant, storyteller, lover of big feelings and believer that your ceremony should feel like you. Not a generic wedding. Not a recycled script. You.

I get to know my couples properly. I want the stories, the ridiculous details, the little things you didn’t think were important and the moments that make you look at each other and grin. Then I turn all of that into a ceremony that feels so authentically you that your guests sometimes assume I’ve known you for years.

That’s one of my favourite compliments.

My couples are the stars of the show, because they are. My job is to tell your story, create the big feelings, get the laughs, make the legal bits happen and then get everyone up and ready to celebrate.

Of course, I’ve encountered my fair share of wedding-day chaos too. Missing rings, rogue weather, nervous humans, last-minute changes and the occasional “well, that wasn’t in the plan”. I got it. And I got you! Keeping a cool head, solving the problem and making sure my couples can stay present is all part of the job.

FAQ

Where are you based?

I split my time between Far North Queensland and South Australia.

As a Far North Queensland wedding celebrant, I’m based in Mission Beach and primarily work between Mission Beach and Port Douglas, along with the surrounding Tropical North Queensland region.

I also spend time down in Adelaide and work across Adelaide and the surrounding areas, including the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and beyond.

So, whether you’re planning a barefoot beach ceremony in FNQ, a rainforest celebration, a backyard wedding in Adelaide or a vineyard celebration in the Hills, I’m happy to travel for the right celebration.

Two home bases. One celebrant. Plenty of places to say “I do.”

What makes your wedding ceremonies different?

I’m not interested in creating a ceremony that could belong to anyone. I certainly don’t use a script template and hit copy and paste.

I get to know my couples properly. I want the stories, the ridiculous details, the little things you didn’t think were important, the things that make you laugh and the moments that make you look at each other and grin.

Then I turn all of that into a ceremony that feels unmistakably you.

I’ve had guests tell my couples their ceremony felt like I’d known them for years. That’s one of my favourite compliments.

My couples are the stars of the show. I’m there to tell their story, create the big feelings, get the laughs, make the legal bits happen and get everyone ready to celebrate and on the D Floor!!

How do you make a ceremony feel like us?

By actually getting to know you. I make little notes; I pay attention when we’re chatting and it boosts my creative brain to help create a ceremony that sounds just like the two of you.

I ask questions. Lots of them. I want to know how you met, what makes you laugh, what you love about each other, why you’ve decided the human standing up there in their fancy clothes is the person you want to grow old with, what your people and animals, mean to you and all those wonderfully random little details that make your relationship yours.

I’m looking for the stories behind the story.

You don’t need to hand me a beautifully written love story and hope I can turn it into a ceremony. That’s my job.

You give me the good stuff. I’ll do something brilliant with it. Writing scripts brings me joy!

What if we’re not traditional wedding people?

Excellent. You’ve come to the right celebrant.

Did you know, there are NO actual wedding police who come and make sure your ceremony follows tradition?? It’s so not a thing I promise!

There’s no rule that says your ceremony has to follow a prescribed formula. If you love tradition, fantastic. If you’d rather throw the rulebook out the window, also fantastic.

Maybe you want heartfelt vows and a good laugh. Maybe you want to skip some of the traditional elements completely. Maybe you have an idea that nobody else has tried before.

We’ll create something that feels comfortable, genuine and completely yours.

Your wedding doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s wedding or be a carbon copy of something from Insta. Let’s make it your day, your way, whatever that even looks and sounds lik

What happens when wedding-day chaos inevitably appears?

I deal with it.
I got you.
In a former life I was public library CSO & ex childcare worker, trust me, I handled a library full of all the cray & cared for 13 babies in a nursery room!

Missing rings, rogue weather, nervous humans, last-minute changes and the occasional “well, that wasn’t in the plan…” have all crossed my path.

I’ve learned that part of being a good celebrant is keeping a cool head when things go sideways.

My couples shouldn’t have to spend their wedding ceremony worrying about what’s happening behind the scenes. If something needs sorting, I’ll work out what needs to happen, solve what I can and keep things moving.

You get to stay present.

I’ll worry about the wobble.

Are you actually the Barefoot Celebrant?

Possibly. Depends on the day and the footwear and what you’re after.

I’m a beach bum at heart, grew up on the beach at Bingil Bay and I genuinely love being barefoot, but Barefoot Celebrant is more of a state of mind than a dress code.

For me, it’s about ceremonies that feel grounded, relaxed and real. No unnecessary performance. No pretending to be something you’re not. I like to keep it calm and let you enjoy your ceremony for what it is – a moment to celebrate your love and your commitment to each other.

Sometimes that means kicking off my shoes. Sometimes it means putting on the fancy ones.

Either way, you’ll get me.

What exactly is a “Duly Authorised Human Joiner”?

Technically, I’m a Commonwealth Registered Civil Celebrant authorised to solemnise marriages.

But Duly Authorised Human Joiner is a much better description of what I actually do. I take two humans who want to smoosh their lives and names together, and I help that happen – hence “Human Joiner”.

I bring together the legal bits, your stories, your people, the big feelings, the laughs and all the little details that make your relationship yours.

It’s my unofficial job title. I may or may not have a t-shirt that says so!

What kinds of celebrations do you create?

The meaningful ones.

Weddings are a big part of what I do, but ultimately, I’m a Party Starting Celebration Specialist and a Storyteller Extraordinaire.

I love working with people and their stories, finding the right words and creating celebrations that feel personal rather than packaged.

Some celebrations are big. Some are tiny. Some are full of champagne and confetti. Others are quieter and more reflective.

Whatever the occasion, I’m interested in making it feel real, personal and completely yours.

I was the kid who was told, “You could talk the leg off a chair, underwater with a mouth full of marbles.” Let me use my specific set of skills to bring your celebration to life!
