For Sonia, having an architect for a dad meant securing an awesome wedding venue would be no stress. £My dad built the location for the ceremony site. It has the best view of the ocean in town, says the bride, who describes her Southern Baja destination wedding as £elegant bohemian whilst staying true to the Mexican theme.
She goes on to tell us, £I really love the bohemian wedding trend that is happening right now but I wanted to be able to look back on our wedding years from now and it still be timeless. This is why I decided to keep the colours very neutral. All of the decor and flowers were earthy colours such as white, green, bronze and tan.
Captured by sunny Queensland based photographers Lover of Mine, Sonia and her Aussie beau Marco were incredibly impressed with all of their vendors. £Every single one went above and beyond, from the decor to the food. I feel very lucky that each vendor was amazing and completely understood my vision and executed it perfectly, Sonia explains, adding that the dance floor was one of the standout moments of the evening.
£It was such madness once all the guests started dancing, but in the best way possible. The garter toss was a riot because one of our friends swooped in from the sidelines and grabbed it. He then proceeded to wear it like a headband for the rest of the night… he is bald so it looked ridiculous!
Despite the groom having broke his hand just weeks before the big day and some difficulty finding the perfect dress (Sonia landed on an epic Stone Cold Fox number) the couple agrees that it’s imperative not to lose sight of what’s most important to you and your partner. £Although it can feel overwhelming to plan a wedding as the stress and anticipation is high, make sure to enjoy your day to the fullest. We were the last ones to leave our wedding and I wouldn’t have it any other way, says Sonia, who hits the nail on the head when explaining her take on marriage.
£Marriage to me means sharing your life with your best friend and partner in crime. I like to look at us as a team that always has each other’s back, no matter what. We are there to lift each other up, and be one another’s biggest fan.
