Some spiritual souls might believe that Erin and Angus, the couple who featured our issue six cover, were never meant to marry. On three separate occasions, Angus’s plans to propose were hijacked by horrible weather. The last grandiose attempt even saw them stranded in an evacuation centre after Cyclone Oswald hit.
Choosing not to take Mother Nature’s mood swings personally, Angus proposed to Erin in their kitchen the following weekend. It wasn’t until their ceremony at Boomerang Farm in Mudgeeraba, Queensland, that he wondered whether Mother Nature was indeed having a dig. £It was certainly very memorable when the heavens re-opened and it poured with rain during our vows, says Erin.
Happy to be there despite the downpour, photographers Bek and Phil from Heart and Colour embraced the gentle lightning and captured some breathtaking shots of Angus and Erin’s romantic, rustic-inspired day. £The venue doesn’t typically offer golf buggies as transport to wedding parties during their photos, says Erin. £However, the grounds were sodden due to the rain and on this occasion, they were happy for our
wedding party to drive around the grounds in golf buggies. It meant that many beautiful locations around the course could be accessed which made for stunning photos and as you could imagine, it was a hilarious sight!
Again proving attitude is everything, Erin knew that she would one day find her dream dress, even after a trip to France left her empty handed. Eventually she tried on her grandmother’s lace wedding dress from 1950. £My grandmother Joy had offered me the dress as she thought I may want to cut it up and use the lace for little details on the day. Instead, the dress itself turned out to be a perfect fit and was exactly the dress I wanted. With hair and makeup beautifully done by Hello May fave Elina Valttila of EV Hair and Makeup, she was certainly a sight for sore eyes. £It was the best feeling to know I was wearing my grandmother’s wedding dress on my wedding day – a truly special, unforgettable and unique moment.
But the best part of their day was arguably the first dance, with their Cakes by Karleigh coming in a close second . Erin explains £The choreographed dance routine was kept a secret from family and friends and was a huge surprise to everyone when they saw Angus performing more than just an awkward side to side shuffle. After such a wonderful wedding, let’s just hope the weather didn’t decide to follow them on their honeymoon.
