California is a place that just keeps on giving. First it brought artistic street graffiti and the The Beach Boys into our lives and today it’s brought us the wedding of Cecilia and Kevin.
Captured by Queensland wedding photographer Anthony Hoang – a man with more talent than one human being deserves – Cecilia and Kevin’s day, set on a private property surrounded by stunning mountain views, was all about having fun. “We wanted it to be a bit bohemian, a bit country and a bit rock n roll. For me, I really wanted it to be a party that my Dad, who passed, would have wanted to be at. He would have loved it”, says Cecilia who spent months sourcing amber glassware, vintage plates, teacups, tablecloths and signage to create a beautifully styled, green and gold reception. “The entire wedding was pretty much DIY, I searched and searched for vendors that fit my exact style. I also spent months looking for teacups from thrift stores to use as vases. My bridesmaid Judy made all the signage too.”
Her gorgeous, bell-sleeved gown also took some time to find. “I found my dress before I ever got engaged. I saw it on a site called BHLDN. It was so very 70’s and bohemian but by the time I was engaged it was sold out. After months of searching the web I found it on Ebay second-hand, I took it as a sign.”
For us the most beautiful part of their day however, perhaps even more so than Cecilia’s flawless hair and makeup by Cari Ann and Carlen Ocampo was the way in which Cecilia and Kevin put their family first – for their son Liam, a beautiful, bright place setting and for Cecilia’s father, a locket worn close to her heart.
“… the love they have for their little son Liam is the sweetest kind”, says Hoang who captured every magical moment, including Cecilia’s first dance with her brothers. Cecilia tells us, “My father had passed two years earlier and dancing with all my brothers made it feel like he was there.”
