Here at Hello May we get to sift through some of the most incredible weddings you could ever possibly imagine. Which is why when we get something that completely blows our mind, we know it is something our readers HAVE to see! Meet Erica and Jesse an adorable couple who decided they didn’t want the fuss of a big white church wedding, so instead tied the knot at Victoria’s Old Treasury Building, explored the mean streets of Melbourne with photographer Eric Ronald and celebrated later with family & friends at a private residence.
It is clear that this couple ditched the ‘traditional’ wedding (whatever that may be!) right from the get go, with Erica sporting a custom made dress and super cure hat to match. Erica says of the day’s inspiration, “As far as the theme went, I knew I didn’t want a traditional wedding dress and I also knew how volatile Melbourne’s weather is in August, so my mom found the seamstress, I chose lace samples based on photos emailed to me, and gave them a very rough idea of what I wanted. The rest of the outfit came together organically at the last minute, and Jesse’s outfit happened kind of last minute too.”
And the photos you ask? Well they are the handy work of one of our favourites, Eric Ronald. You can see more of his work here and here, or check him out on the Hello May directory here. Of Erica and Jesse, he tells us, “Erica and Jesse have the most wonderfully quirky personalities and such a close bond which was a delight to capture. They totally embraced the photography and trusted me to do my thing. When it came time for portraits the rain clouds parted and we were gifted some lovely soft light. We had a bunch of fun in the portraits and I still get a bit teary when I look back at those beautiful intimate moments between Erica and Jesse. Just as we finished shooting and we were literally 50 meters away from the venue when the heavens opened up again. Mother nature was very kind to us that day.”
Eric’s work also graces the cover of new coffee table book JUST MARRIED, and it just so happens we have three copies to give away, simply pick up issue three of hello may magazine, on sale Nov 7 and stocked in newsagents nationally, for the details!
