Amelia and Ollie started off planning their wedding with two things in mind: their lack of creative skills and dreams of a relaxed, summertime wedding. Fortunately for them, a rockstar team of vendors and New Zealand’s The Tasting Shed came to their aid and saved the day.
“We just wanted a fun summer garden party with relaxed guests, good food, wine and dancing. The weather didn’t completely cooperate but I think we still managed to pull it off!” says Amelia, who couldn’t deny that the cakes, made by The Caker, was her favourite detail of the day.
“With both of us coming from families where food is paramount at any gathering, we decided on three different flavours: gluten free chocolate, fig and raspberry, and banana maple. They were a huge hit and all three were demolished by our guests by the end of the night – we still have friends and family talking about the cakes almost five months on from the wedding!”
Though Amelia was hopelessly indecisive about her dress, she found the perfect match in dressmaker Harriett Falvey. “Visits to Harry’s gorgeous workroom were definitely the best parts of my wedding planning. By the end of the process I had gained both a beautiful dress and a beautiful friend!”
Also topping their list of exceptional vendors were Floral Stylist, Wedding Paper Divas and photo-experts A Couple of Night Owls who helped Amelia and Ollie create a day that was all their own, promoting them to offer brides and grooms-to-be this piece of advice: “Just remember your wedding is about you as a couple and the only opinions that matter are yours!”
