Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine that someone might one day create a gigantic canopy that would involve stapling (literally) thousands of strips of fabric to a net. But Alanah’s mum is an angel.
“The masterpiece of the wedding was by far the canopy above the aisle”, says Alanah who seamlessly tied all of her and James’s favourite things together to create a “day on the green” style wedding. There were fairy lights and flowers and plenty of food from Oi Taco and Ms Daisy Ice Cream Emporium, as well as drinks served by handsome men in bow ties.
Green, yellow and white featured consistently throughout, from their simple table settings to the big, white marquee. “We were really deliberate about the day being relaxed and fun…” says Alanah who quickly learnt that there are some things women just can’t control – namely men.
“The grooms outfits! This is funny to look back on, but was a disaster at the time” she tells us. “The shirts didn’t arrive until the last minute. They were too big, the replacement was too small, an extra came from 100 kilometres away the day before the wedding. Then, on the day of the wedding, one of the groomsmen realised that his suit was gigantic… So, a last minute trip was made to Roger David hours before the wedding. The sizes were swapped and all was well.”
At least there was no mistake made in choosing Trent and Jessie as their wedding photographers. “Trent and Jessie were perfect. They’re really genuinely lovely people with a LOT of talent. We couldn’t be happier with our photos, and felt like movie stars looking through them all. There’s no way we look that good in real life!”
