This here groom calls his proposal a “very humble” one but we love bride Georgina’s retelling of the story. “We were at the beach where we go every year,” she tells us. “There is a headland walk and a particular place where there is a beautiful view of the ocean where we had stopped, and before I knew it, Andrew was down on one knee. I was wearing the most unflattering pair of bike shorts and looked hideous – I figured if he still wanted to marry me when I looked like that, it was a pretty good sign!” LOL.
When it came to planning their wedding in beautiful Tassie, these two architects put an emphasis on “doing fewer things and doing them well to minimise our wedding footprint.” We loved the result and the incredible images from Lilli of I Got You Babe so much that we printed this wedding in issue 37 (these cuties even graced the cover), and can’t wait to share their story here today. THE VENUE “We didn’t look at any other venues. We knew we wanted our reception to be in a beautiful room and not a marquee, and we knew we wanted excellent food and wine. It was also important that we chose a venue we knew and loved so we could keep going back in the future. The Agrarian Kitchen Eatery was an obvious choice for us. We liked the idea of the ceremony being by the river in New Norfolk, and the garden at Valleyfield was just the most picturesque setting. New Norfolk is just such an interesting and rapidly changing town as well, so we thought it would be nice for our guests to experience a piece of Tasmania outside of Hobart.”
THE VIBE “We really tried to keep everything as local and Tasmanian as possible, do fewer things and do them well, and minimise our wedding footprint. We also just loved The Phasmida Room at Agrarian, particularly the mustard/gold linoleum, which inspired the yellows and golds in the florals. Summer in Tasmania is just a dream, and we wanted to celebrate that.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “If you can, engage someone for a planning/coordination role. Lisa (from Artaud & Co) was a saviour. And just think about the things that are most important to you – do fewer things and do them as beautifully as you can!”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “A friend gave us some sage advice, which was to just take some time in the day just to spend together, just the two of you. You get so distracted by having your favourite people there and the blur of the party, it’s nice to punctuate the day with a little bit of alone time to catch your breath. We also chose to get ready together, at home, which was really lovely.”
STANDOUT VENDOR “Our photographer Lilli, from I Got You Babe, came highly recommended from a close friend. She captured the true essence of the day in spectacular fashion. And our florist, Lottie Phillips – there are no words! Flower queen!”
