It’s fitting that the theme of Léa and Will’s wedding was ‘plenty’ because we cannot get enough! “We host a lot of dinner parties, and my motto is ‘plentiful’; plenty of food, wine, colour and conversation. You will never leave my house hungry or wanting more.”

In quite the lockdown love story, these cool cats started dating right on the cusp of COVID. Not keen to social distance themselves from each other, they moved in together after just two months! “We made it work with date nights and dancing to hip-hop music in the living room”. They tied the knot in an intimate ceremony hosted at Will’s parents’ family home before letting their hair down with a roaring celebration at beloved local spot Old Palm Liquor.

THE PROPOSAL “I  was pretty adamant all my life that I didn’t want to get married. I am French Canadian, and culturally, we don’t get married often. When I met Will, it was something that he wanted to do, and only he would change my mind on the matter. Although I am not traditional, he wanted to propose, so he did! We had just purchased a house, and he proposed at on our nightly walk. We celebrated that night with champagne.”

FAVE DETAILS “FLOWERS! I gave Rosa Rose Flor the vague brief – colourful, playful, plentiful and loud. They delivered on all fronts. There were so many flowers everywhere you looked. When you entered, there was a large statement flower piece that made people instantly excited to be there! The band was a hit! Will and I love jazz, so it made sense for the band to play for three hours during the ceremony. Also, the food and wine; our wine was from different regions, mostly French, Italian and Australian and mostly natural. We had four courses: snacks, appetisers, mains and dessert, and started the reception with a Venetian spritz or French champagne! It really kicked off the whole vibe. Although I didn’t really eat cake, the whimsical cake by Mali Bakes was hit!”

LITTLE LOL “Although I was not wanting to get married, I am your typical Type A personality that doesn’t do things in halves. I had booked the venue prior to the engagement as I didn’t want to miss out on the good venues that get booked out a year in advance. I believe we booked it in May and the proposal happened in June. When I contacted Old Palm Liquor they congratulated us on our engagement, and I had to let them know that in fact I wasn’t engaged! It did feel like I was a bit of a Bridezilla at that moment.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Greeted all guests on arrival together. This meant that we spoke to everyone and for the rest of the night we could relax. It also meant that we were able to eat during the sit-down dinner rather than always walking around to greet our guests! We took pictures with family prior to all the other guests arriving, and this meant that we didn’t lose precious conversation time with everyone. We’re also glad we booked or planned the afterparty as our guests weren’t ready to leave at 12 am.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographer Lilli (I Got You Babe) – I was scared I wouldn’t look good in pictures, but she made it so easy. We didn’t even notice them during the ceremony or party! Big bonus.”
