Guys, we know we have pretty damn dreamy jobs – scrolling though thousands of your wild and wonderful weddings on the reg is not a privilige we take lightly, but recently some of the Hello May team were feeling extra ‘#blessed’, after attending Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week. And, friends, we don’t mess around when we say… it. was. heaven! Today, we’re taking you along for the ride as we relive the magic hanging with the bridal fashion elite in stunning Spain.

The event organised by the Fira de Barcelona, with the support of the Ministry of Business and Labour of the Government of Catalonia, was oh-so luxe and beautifully extravagant, and the 37 national and international designers who presented blew us away.

The biggest drawcard of the (seriously impressive) bunch was haute couturist and high fashion royalty Giambatistta Valli. While the Italian designer has been whipping up couture masterpieces for nearly 20 years, the collection he debuted in Barcelona was only his third time round in the bridal sphere. On a fresh, spring evening in the historic and stunning La Llotja de Mar building, the Giambatistta Valli Love Collection 3 sashayed around the runway as part of the event’s ‘Gala Night’. The 30-piece strong range went big on volume, with bold ballgown silhouettes, dramatic trains, statement ruffles and luxe layers of dreamy tulle taking centre stage – all crafted with meticulous detail and paired with oversized accessories.

Another huge highlight was cutting-edge Spanish designer Yolancris. The show’s mechanics and drama alone was breathtaking enough, but the collection that followed… Ooft! Picture this: dark runway, classical tune To The Hills blasting, spotlights start flashing and then the most epic suit and statement veil combo strut out. From there, it was hit after hit – sheer gloves, lavish lace, adorned minis and on-trend floral motifs. Each look was uber-romantic yet edgy, weaving modern chic with classic allure.

Other special mentions go Pronovias, no-one nailed embellishment quite like them; Sophie et Volià for absolutely bringing it with dramatic draping; Ukranian designer Woná Concept who sent an epic bridal hat down the runway (enough said!), Isabel Sanchis for the chicest column silhouettes we ever did see, and menswear designer Lucas Balboa whose metallic suits were innovative and oh-so impressive.

While some of these damn-hot designers aren’t currently available on Australian shores (boo!), the bucketload of incredible looks you’ll find below are sure to leave you inspired. Whether you’re gown shopping, or simply keen to suss out what’s hot in European bridal right now, we guarantee you’ll have a good time sifting through these phenom photos.

If you’re after some dream dress inspo closer to home, we gotchu! Head here to discover some of our favourite luxe gowns of the moment, then jump over here and a tonne more fashion goodness right.
