Having always shared a love for the Australian ocean, Nina and Dan’s decision to host an intimate wedding by the water in Byron Bay was a no brainer. “Getting married at Broken Head, a beach with lots of surf was like a dream come true. We enjoy going surfing together, the love for the ocean is something we share. It was the perfect spot for us”, says Nina who couldn’t wipe the smile off her face as she made her way toward Dan in her Anna Campbell gown, where Cara of Modern Love Ceremonies was waiting to kickstart the formalities.
“When I was walking down to the beach and our lovely musician Stephanie Grace played Bloom by The Paper Kites, I just couldn’t hold back tears. I was so happy in that moment, standing on this beautiful beach, seeing the arbour that Daniel created for the first time, surfers in the waves? it couldn’t have been any better.”
With just a handful of guests (25 to be precise) plus their photographer Julian Beattie, Nina and Dan made their way to Pavillion2 at Broken Head where pretty paper things by Nina’s stationery business Ink Paper Rock were delicately placed on long trestle tables carrying plates of food courtesy of Eat Drink Catering and a little something from Nina as a nod to her Austrian heritage.
“Our guests received a little bottle filled with schnapps. Real schnapps, the 40% stuff, also known as £fire water£, that is locally made in my home town. It’s always funny seeing Australians drinking schnapps for the first time”, says Nina cheekily.
