For Maddie and Mat, their wedding was about more than just getting married (first featured in issue 13). The day proved to be a super significant one, as they used it as a platform to share some very special news? £We announced that Mat and I were expecting during our speeches. It was definitely a highlight of the night. Not many people expected the announcement and we had majority of the room in tears – happy tears, of course.
Hoping to create a boho themed day, Maddie and Mat focused on relaxed vibes and lots of foods, drinks, dancing and fun. £We always wanted a warehouse type venue, somewhere where we could bring things in and create the type of style
and vibe we wanted. We had a reception venue set but had to change venues two months out from the wedding due to noise complaints and restrictions, the couple tells us, adding they were lucky to hear about Spadille’s Cafe & Garage in West Perth, though finding their ceremony venue wasn’t quite as simple.
£We actually didn’t choose the venue until three months out due to Maddie not being able to make up her mind. She always knew she wanted it somewhere outdoors around the Swan Valley Region though, Mat explains, though scouting their suppliers was easy peasy.
The couple enlisted the help of Perth photographer Loren of Nectarine Photography to capture their special day.
While the couple says that all of their vendors deserve a mention because £each one brought something unique and special to their wedding day and they £couldn’t have done it without them all, it was their drinks caravan who topped the charts as their favourite detail from the day.
£Hiring Mable & Co was just the icing on the cake’. Mable’s owners (and bar staff on the night) Arron & Kate were so amazing and friendly. They brought such a great vibe to our wedding. And Mable’ is such an exquisite old gal too, raves Maddie, who admits she had trouble trying to find the gown she was dreaming.
£The dress I had envisioned was different to all the dresses on the racks so I chose to get it made. Elvi Design created my dress and it took 9 months from my first initial consultation to the final fitting. I did find getting it made from scratch was rather scary, not knowing what the end outcome was going to be but I loved my dress.
While Maddie and Mat advise other brides and grooms to enlist help from their family and take some time to ‘ground yourselves’ before the big day, Maddie says that on the day she had not a care in the world. £I accepted it was all out of my hands now! No matter what happened on that day, all I wanted to do was marry my man.
