Liv and Dave aren’t normally the type of couple to take things slow (first featured in issue 13). Having moved in together soon after they met, they assure us “it’s always been the plan to be together forever.” As excited as this pair was to get married, they took all of their options into consideration, including elopement. “That’s when we realised that we really wanted to use the opportunity to bring all our closest friends and family from around the world together to celebrate this special moment with us. So we decided to have a wedding”, Liv tells us, admitting that finding their ideal location was a toughie.

“Our priority was for our venue to be dog-friendly so our little Dalston could come, not have any curfews (as my parents from Europe are used to partying all night long!), and we also wanted everyone to stay right on-site. It was mission impossible,” explains Liv, who after months of searching happened upon beautiful Bawley Bush Retreat for their three day ‘wedstival’.

“We wanted the whole weekend to be as much fun as possible for everyone involved. We didn’t feel the need for a theme, as a wedding to us is special in itself. We didn’t want to take away from what the day was actually about, but rather just create a beautiful scenery with enough space for the important people and celebrations itself. We simply chose things that we liked and that are our style, no matter if on trend or within a theme or whatever.”

The festivities were captured by the talented Jo Bartholomew, whose eye for detail caught the every fleeting moment.

A day that was almost entirely DIY; it’s obvious that Liv and Dave got by with a little help from their (super crafty) friends. “It’s truly a rewarding feeling to look around and feel such a special relationship to all the details. We just felt pride and all the love and talent that our friends invested, whenever we looked around us. We wouldn’t want it any other way,” Liv tells us, adding that it may’ve been her Mum who had the best time out of everyone.

“She met me on the dance floor with her ancient Mp3 player asking in the thickest German accent, ‘Can we please play some Rage Against The Machine now? I brought it.’ We all knew we were at a good party at that moment, when I looked around the room and people had started to climb up benches, dancing on tables, the smoke machine was running and Mum asked for some Rage Against The Machine. I politely declined and she kept dancing.”
