There’s not much that can dampen such a perfect day, except of course, a whole lot of rain. For this lovely bride and groom however, it didn’t matter. “By luck or divine favour, the weather provided a clear window bookending the ceremony almost to the minute to allow things to proceed as planned”, recalled their super talented photographer Jase Lyon from The Wanderers.
Here at Hello May we see a lot of ceremonies and were delighted when this one popped up. We thought it was particularly picturesque – set amidst long-legged trees and lush forest at The Green Cathedral, Tiona – it was as though we could inhale the fresh air through their photos. We couldn’t, obviously, so instead we started gushing about Laura’s amazing vintage dress from Grandma Takes A Trip.
“I was very blessed to have my most keen-eyed friend spot the dress for me before I’d even started shopping. In all my web browsing I hadn’t found anything so close to what I was after, so it didn’t take long to decide it was the right dress. Being able to comfortably trek through the rainy weather without any dirty dress-ends was a plus, too!” said Laura.
She was also lucky to have an entire team of talented and generous friends to help her with the invitations, decorations, bouquets, music and hair and makeup, which despite the rain and a black out at the reception, worked to create a fun and very personalised day that reflected the beautiful yet relaxed vibe of the venue.
Their advice for engaged couples now? “Your clothes might get crinkled and your sound system might fail but it won’t really matter in the end – just enjoy the day”. We couldn’t agree more!
