Laura-&-Aidy-817

You may remember Laura and Adrian (or Aidy as he’s affectionately known) from Issue 10. In just three months (yes, months!), these two planned the mother of all weddings at Churchill, one of Victoria’s newest and most spectacular event spaces.

Owned and run by florists Vanessa and Caris of Prunella, Laura tells us, £I instantly fell in love with Prunella’s amazing floral arrangements and it was by chance that I went on their website and found they were starting up a venue of their own. We went to the opening and fell in love with the whole space. We did look at a few other venues in between but quickly came back to Churchill.—

A deconsecrated Methodist Church built in 1858, it set the tone for their glamorous autumn wedding, boasting high timber ceilings, gothic stained-glass windows and enough seasonal blooms to sink a small ship and then some. £The flowers would have to be my most favourite detail. They were just so incredible, and grand. The colours were absolutely stunning and my bouquet was amazing! It was also extra special having our cake made by my very talented friend. It tasted divine too, gingerbread cake with salted caramel ganache!—

To suit their sophisticated yet informal theme, Aidy sported a dark brown custom suit by Oscar Hunt while Laura chose to wear a contemporary lace dress by Lover. £I wanted something elegant and classic that was still modern and not as formal as a traditional wedding dress. I love the midi length and structured shoulders combined with the softness of the lace.—

Nailing her look from head to toe with a polished up-do by Sophie Knox, Laura couldn’t care less when Mother Nature tried to steal her limelight. Blessed with beautiful blue skies, Laura and Aidy had their first look’ outside with photographer Beck Rocchi before tying the knot and later heading to their cocktail-style reception.

£I’m really glad we chose to have a cocktail function. It made it less formal and enabled everyone to mingle and be social!— says Laura who had an absolute blast on the day, and so it seemed, did everyone else. £The band was fabulous, it was really nice having live music and seeing everyone on the dance floor having a great time!—
