An intimate wedding with just 68 guests, set amongst one of Victoria’s finest locations known as Zonzo set the tone for Ewa and Andy’s mind-blowing celebration. Captured by photographer Pierre Curry who Ewa says “made all their nerves go away” every detail – from their custom illustrations by Blanka Biernat to their DIY cake topper – suited Ewa and Andy to a tee.
“We wanted it to be a celebration of friends and family, just like they would experience if they were dining at our house (and if our house was amazing) ? and of course, the theme needed to be authentic to who we are and our relationship”, says Ewa who hired a number of vendors who were on the same page including live music legends Lark Music and celebrant Charis White.
“Charis – Our celebrant. She is someone we will never forget, not only did she marry us, she made us feel so special and calm. I am petrified of public speaking and my biggest worry for the day was saying my vows but like Pierre, she is so calm natured that all my worries went away.”
Both looking fabulous – Andy in a suit by Oscar Hunt and Ewa in a flattering gown by Alexis George – they both say the traditions they incorporated into their fun-filled day were particularly memorable and important. One was a Polish tradition which involved eating bread and a shot of vodka and the other was an Italian tradition (involving a boat load of brightly coloured streamers) which Andy’s parent’s also performed at their own wedding 40 years ago.
“The traditions, they meant a lot to us and our families. We kept the guest list small (68 people) we wanted to spend our time with everyone and try and take away a special memory with each person on the night.”
