We are suckers for a surprise wedding here at Hello May. As luck would have it so is the lovely Tricia King from The Itchy Eyes. We first came across Tricia’s work when we featured this surprise wedding and here we are again, a year later bringing you another no-one-saw-it-coming-surprise-shebang!
Tricia tells u “I love surprise weddings as you are part of the rare few folk who are in the know. It’s such a privilege to share this secret and be trusted not to blow it! Tim and Demi gathered all their friends at the bowls club and then disappeared under the stairs to get ready. Tim stood at the alter whilst guests were ushered into the main room. They saw the sign “keep calm its just a wedding” and then Tim standing there and I was there to capture their gasps. Meanwhile downstairs Demi was watching everyone arrive and see the sign on CCTV.”
Because it was a nighttime wedding and a surprise one at that, Demi and Tim held off doing formal photographs that night but they frocked up again a few weeks later (after some serious dry cleaning we are told) and went on a little photographic adventure with Tricia to Samford waterfall’s where Tim and Demi had one of their first dates. Tricia goes on to say “Demi kicked off her shoes and lept across the rocks in her wedding dress like some kind of forest nymph. I, meanwhile, slid down the side of the rocks in my jeans on my ass in the single most ungraceful moments of my life. We made some awesome images though”.
Demi the most laid back / awesomest bride we ever did come across, shares her side of the story with us. “We are pretty fun people, not awfully formal, and the wedding we were organising just didn’t really feel like it was us, and just what society says a wedding should be like. I wanted to elope to be honest, and just have a party. But we compromised. Bowls club, because we love barefoot bowls, Party, because we love an excuse to have a good time, and a surprise wedding in amongst it all just to see people swear, cry and yell at us for not telling them about it because “why on earth would they wear f%#&ing jeans to a wedding!!”
