Both students, Catherine and David found time between study and three different jobs to plan a wedding in just 11 weeks! “The timeframe was a challenge (sometimes a little stressful)” admits Catherine, “but we already knew almost precisely the kind of ceremony and reception we wanted, and we had the full support and dedication of all our families and friends to help us achieve that.”
Seeing their day as an opportunity to thank their nearest and dearest for their ongoing support (especially Dave’s sister and brother in law who, aside from the main course, organised all the food and drink for the day). “Our inspiration was to throw the kind of party that we would want to go to – which particularly meant a natural outdoor setting (rain or shine – and we got both)” says Catherine who knew she was marrying the right man when David offered to design their invitations and arrange all of their beautiful flowers bought from East Coast Wildflowers.
Despite much of their day being DIY, Catherine and David are confident they couldn’t have done it without their incredible vendors, including a lovely retired seamstress who offered to make Catherine’s gorgeous gown. “Good vendors make a real difference to the overall vibe and flow of the day”, says Catherine. “Our photographer Daniel Ferris not only took beautiful pictures, but created a really easy and genuine atmosphere for us during the photo time, to the point that it was one of our favourite moments of the day.”
Catherine goes on to say “Our hair and make-up artist, Liv Lundelius, did an incredible job of making the girls look great, whilst still looking like themselves – and was also super relaxed and easy to communicate with. M.Carney Ensemble blew us away with the aisle song that we didn’t hear until that actual magical moment. Julia DeVille, who designed both of our wedding rings, was so lovely and willing to help. Finally, Briony and Dave from Yarramalong Valley Farmstay were so over-the-top helpful with preparing the farm and helping us solve problems and making sure that we could have everything just the way we wanted it.”
Sounds like the perfect day to us! You can see more of Daniel’s beautiful work here on the Hello May directory. You might just spy the talents of Liv Lundelius there too.
