Finding the perfect location to celebrate your commitment to one another can be a tough gig, as Brooke and Mat discovered during their search for the perfect wedding venue. “We went to the Hunter Valley, the Blue Mountains and all kinds of places, but nothing seemed to tick all the boxes’ and nothing felt like the one’.” The bride mentioned they’d even toyed with the idea of eloping to Italy after they’d just about given up hope. That was of course until they discovered the breathtaking grounds of Stones of the Yarra Valley. “As soon as we entered the driveway we felt giddy. Having everything in the one location was a big pre-requisite of ours, and the backdrop of the great dividing range felt magical.”

Brooke explains that although she tried on several wedding dresses, she decided to stick with the family tradition of having her great aunt Lorraine create her bespoke wedding gown. “In the end it was a dress I loved, and was so grateful to have Lorraine to do this with, and create that feeling that I had imagined as a little girl.”

There to capture the day was non other than the talented Mitch Pohl, whose incredible photography has graced the pages of many a HM issue, including the cover of our issue eight. The bride tells us that she’d had Mitch in her sights for some time, having seen his work from a colleague’s wedding. “She showed me her photos and instantly I thought to myself – this is exactly how I want my wedding portrayed…He was so chilled and as soon as he walked in to start for the day I felt at ease.”

The couple also enlisted the help of The White Tree to commit their day to film, and boy did these guys do a great job. You can read all about them on our Directory, and whilst you’re at it, why not check out our online store where you can order past issues to get you inspired!
