As a couple who works in law and digital media sales (and has a little one), Sharon and Darren may have underestimated the time it would take to plan their big day with so much already on their plates. With 5 months to plan, Sharon thought she had plenty of time to organise a wedding at a relaxed pace.
£After phoning a couple of bridal vendors it was immediately apparent that this was unusually short notice and decisions on vendors needed to be made pronto.
With little time to spare, Sharon began the hunt for her wedding dress knowing she wasn’t going to wear white or anything ‘too bridal’. Instead, she decided to design her own gown and feather jacket, to be constructed by the amazing Tania Stokes, and accessorised with hot pink Rupert Sanderson heels and Samantha Wills jewellery.
As parents, it’s no surprise that the couple’s two year old daughter had a big role throughout the wedding – she even accompanied the bride-to-be to each and every one of her dress fittings! Sharon tells us that, at one of the fittings, her daughter slipped into her handbag and found her bright pink lipstick, smearing it all over her hands and face. Oh dear!
£She started walking towards me for a cuddle. At that moment, I didn’t know whether to laugh or scream. How could this be happening? Acting swiftly, Tania dived for the baby wipes and somehow cleaned her up without any transfer onto my silver silk dress. it could have been a disaster but instead it ended in tears of laughter!
Obviously a relaxed, fuss-free bride, Sharon says that after researching a few places on the web it was easy to decide on Melbourne’s Farm Cafe (the only location they looked at) as their wedding venue.
£The moment we arrived we knew it was perfect. We loved every aspect from the beautiful old Oak Tree to the casual yet intimate feeling of the cafe. We wanted a wedding day that was relaxed, meaningful, fun and a party to remember? We didn’t want the formality of a sit-down meal.
The roaming canapes and grazing table allowed everyone to mingle and dance the night away, the couple tells us, adding that they were happy with all of their vendors, but cinematographer La Lune Cinema and photographer Lucy of She Takes Pictures He Makes Films were both especially brilliant.
£She really made us feel relaxed. It’s not every day you have someone photographing your every move and she really understood what we were looking for in our photos.
