Boys will be boys but nothing could’ve ruined Sarah and Josh’s day. Not even the page boys fleeing the aisle to ambush the croquet lawn. £My sister-in-law rescued them and had to guide them the rest of the way, says Sarah.
Despite the chaos, Josh admits that £seeing Sarah at the end of the aisle after hours of anticipation was his favourite moment of the entire day. £Her beauty plus the dress was too much to handle as the tears flowed, knowing that we had finally made it!
Even Sarah seemed taken aback by how lovely she looked in her Rue De Seine gown from The Babushka Ballerina, considering her reaction when she first tried it on. £It was so large and baggy,” she says. But with a pull here and a pin there, the giggles turned to tears as Sarah realised she had found her perfect match. £The dress took shape around my body and we knew… this IS my dress.
A former wedding stylist, Sarah was already a huge step ahead of most brides. With heaps of suppliers at her disposal (like legend Shane Shepherd) and her heart long-set on Gabbinbar Homestead, a historic venue in Queensland she knew exactly what she wanted, all she had to do was organise it.
With a theme of green readily in mind, Sarah tells us the blooms were a breeze. £The florists (The Butterfly Lounge) took a few inspirational images and turned them into an absolute dream wedding. It was so much better than I ever imagined or thought was possible.
Having decided early on against a traditional seating arrangement, the couple were keen to have a banquet style setup and are still so glad they chose the more communal route. £We as the bridal party sat in the middle of the central banquet table rather than at the head bridal table. It felt like one big family dinner and we so appreciated being amongst all of our friends and family.
