“After seven years Graeme surprised me with an elaborate proposal at The Four Seasons Hotel in Mexico City”, says Camilla. “When he got down on one knee I had never been so shocked in my life. We went back to our room and accidentally racked up $750 in international phone calls, ringing all our family.”
Fortunately, they weren’t quite as frivolous with their funds when it came to planning their wedding. “Graeme was a bit of a groomzilla. He loves a party and goes to a lot of events for work so he knew exactly what he wanted. So he organised pretty much everything and did a wonderful job. I had to spend a lot of time reigning him in, like when he suggested we arrive in helicopters”, says Camilla who gave guests plenty to talk about in her adorable, knee-length gown by Anaessia.
Shot by Melbourne-based photographer Leo Farrell, what also caught our eye beyond their awesome cake topper by FromTheOwl, was their choice of venue. Their ceremony held at Smart Artz Gallery and their reception which took place at St Ali were similarly rather quirky spaces – one an industrial warehouse in the heart of Melbourne, the other a bustling cafe by day selling speciality coffee.
“We wanted it to be typical Melbourne; cool, casual, with gorgeous food and wine. We wanted it to be easy and low fuss, we didn’t want to have to worry about anything, all the vendors we used were so wonderful”, says Camilla who credits Ivy and Eve, Blake’s Feast and Baker Boys Band for ensuring their night was a raving success.
