Sara and Jean’s wedding planning went a little differently to most, as the duo explain they spent most of their engagement traveling the globe! Tucked inside a Colombian hostel pantry during the early hours of the morning, the pair Skyped their photographer, Melissa Mills. “Half way through our call an armed Gaucho (Cowboy) security guard interrupted us looking very confused and angry!”
Despite the difficulties of organising a wedding from the screen of a laptop on the beds of foreign hostels, these two managed to pull off a pretty stunning shindig – not to mention they discovered a business venture together in the process! Mechanical engineer and all round handy man Jean decided on a ‘do it yourself’ approach to their wedding, adding, “by the time we were finished we had started a hire company called Twelve Tables. It was so awesome to look out and see everyone seated on our handmade benches and tables under our very own clear marquee!”
During their travels Sara had the opportunity to explore the extensive bridal retailers America has to offer, but in the end it was Australia’s Karen Willis Holmes who caught her eye (and heart)! “Trying on dresses in San Francisco, Denver and finishing in New York with my Mum where I found my dream dress the day before we flew out in Karen Willis Holmes beautiful store in New York!”
The pair agreed their day was made complete by the incredible work of Melissa, their photographer and the talented creatives behind Love Soldier Weddings, “We spent literally the whole day with them and they made it incredibly relaxed and fun. It was so cool spending the day/night with them- we’d invite them as guests next time!”
