Both originally from Belgium, Valerie and David up and decided to move overseas to Sydney in 2014. Opting to go back home for their big day, Valerie and David carried over their down-to-earth and simplistic demeanor to their wedding too!
“With David being a design engineer/architect, it felt natural to go with an industrial style wedding. There are so many beautiful wedding themes on Instagram, and Pinterest, but the industrial theme was pretty much the only style we felt suited us perfectly,” says Valerie, who rocked a Pronovias gown.
“I tried on a few others after, but kept going back to the same one, so the choice was made pretty quickly. I loved the experience, it was simple, laidback, not rushed and so much nicer than I expected it to be. I wish I could shop like this always,” jokes Valerie, adding that Hotel Chevalier, Damien Milan and Smokey Goodness were standout vendors.
And as far as advice goes? The couple says this: “Just go with your own feeling, and make it the wedding you both want it to be! Don’t listen to anyone else, or never be afraid to make your own decisions. It’s your day, and no one else’s! People that can’t be happy for you, and you know will be negative, shouldn’t deserve to be there. And also, less is more! Be yourself, don’t get carried away with tacky silly splurges, because they’re just not worth it!”
