In the third instalment of our faves to follow on Instagram, today, we are bringing you the Top 20 wedding stylists to follow, friends. And if you have missed the others, the Top 20 Bridal Designers to Follow on Instagram works almost like a little cheat sheet for the big wide world of wedding dress designers, so you have a solid list to start your search. And the Top 20 Florists to Follow on Instagram will give you some major ideas for the blooms on your big day and help with not only key vendors, but reference shots and some inspiration for stylists and venues alike – they all go hand in hand after all.
If you’re newly engaged, or simply still wondering what the heck a stylist does on the day, we’re here to tell you they are worth their weight in gold and more often than not, something real brides and grooms highly recommend when we are writing all about real weddings. Stylists work closely with planners and florists (or at times are one and the same), venues and you, the bride, or groom, to bring your visual dreams to life. They can work to your brief, or come up with an original concept of their own once meeting you. They set up everything that you see at weddings (and often pack down!)- from hire items to table decor, using colours, textures, themes and props to bring your dreams to life.
So don’t get confused, your venue’s event coordinator doesn’t typically set everything up, nor does your florist (other than the flowers, of course) but those candles you want to see spread across the room? Or that fabric draped from floor to ceiling? Or that burning car you want to say “I Do” in front of? A stylist will move heaven and earth to make that shit happen. How about the unique cutlery that the venue doesn’t provide, or those fancy cushions, place cards, or specifically knotted linen napkins? Yep, you guessed it, a stylist will source and set up these beauties for you too.
So scroll down for 20 of our faves to follow on Instagram (in no particular order of course). Check the credits at the base of this post for some sneaky photographer recommendations too!
Nomad Styling (who’s handy work can be attributed to these top two images) would have to be hands-down, one of the most interesting stylists in Australia (big call, we know!) but bear with us. You’ll see on her Instagram, she does everything from the crazy-colourful and fun (do NOT miss the lilac car tyres that were used as an arbour in Jen & Gaz’ wedding we featured in Issue 24) to serious sit downs (like one in Venice at the venue George and Amal Clooney got married at, no less) and although based in Vic, is happy to travel. You can read our 5 minutes with Nomad Styling for more and check out a few of our favourite weddings owner Shonel has styled with Vanessa & Terry and Hails & Matt, who got married in front of a burning car! See, we told you she was interesting!
