Hi, I’m Bec the “lady” behind Little Lady Blooms; however, don’t let my business name mislead you! I’m really a pretty down-to-earth person and my arrangements are done on all scales, from the grand to minutely detailed.
I’m a born and bred New Zealander, hailing from the South Island province of North Otago and like many South Islanders I have strong sense of connection to the outdoors and a love for the natural environment. I spent a lot of time as a kid roaming the tussock-covered mountains of my family’s high country sheep station and helping out on the farm, so a lot of my inspiration for my work is drawn from those experiences of being so limitlessly surrounded by nature.
I have always been into floral arrangement but it wasn’t until I began working as ‘an event’s planner’ for ‘Farm Cafe Weddings’ an events venue which catered predominantly for weddings’ that I was able to really able to develop my skills in the commercial environment and expand the style and scope of my work.
Meeting and connecting with people is an aspect of this work that I really enjoy, and being able to achieve something unique and beautiful for their special occasions really drives my creativity and passion. Since starting out I’ve also met some amazing growers, wholesalers and small business owners, and I strive to use locally sourced and seasonal floral items whenever I can in my designs.
In a nutshell, I love all aspects of floral design and want to share that with you!
