Although originally from Mackay, lovers Taylor and Mitch now live in Queenstown. When it came time to plan their day of days showing off their new home was a high priority. Showcasing the snow-capped peaks the duo know and love, their intimate reception boasted an outdoor fire and lawn games. To keep things cozy blankets, heaters and sheep hides were on offer. Scroll down for more details and to peep Kate Roberge Photography’s moody snaps…

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The arrangements by The Vase were stunning! We were amazed when we walked into the woodshed at our reception to see the epic statement piece hanging above the head table which consisted of dried palms and native toi toi. Red, burgundy and pink roses, white orchids along with greenery were placed along our guest tables in brass vases, throughout the woodshed and hanging from the ceiling between tables.”

DIY “Mitch was such a handyman when it came to our wedding. I can definitely say for a plumber, his building skills aren’t too shabby! He built our gorgeous double triangle arbour for the ceremony and the shelves for the centre of the reception tables. The shelves were super handy for the share platters at dinner time. I resin painted an old snowboard and we used this as our guest book for everyone to write on and it is currently hanging up on display in our home.”

THE DRESS “My dress is the Nahla Gown by Rue De Seine.I had always loved Rue even before getting engaged so I was very excited to try them on! I travelled back to Australia to meet my family and bridesmaids to start the dress search. First stop was Sphere Collective in Maroochydore and I found the dress straight away. I knew it was the one! The whole experience with Sphere was perfect. Caitlyn was a pleasure to be around and made me feel so comfortable. The boutique itself is elegant and definitely stands out among the rest. I cannot recommend them enough if you’re on the hunt for your wedding gown.”

LITTLE LOL “Our caterer’s dog escaped and ran around the reception and I WAS SO STOKED when I saw his cute little face. We are huge doggo lovers and it definitely topped the day for us!”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “We went a little over budget but we’re glad that we spent the extra money. It was our day and we wanted to do it exactly the way we wanted even if people had other opinions. It just meant saving a little harder but it also meant having our dream wedding! I’m also glad we invested in a good photographer and videographer.”

WE WISH WE.. I wish I paid more attention to the food as I missed out on our late-night supper. We had Cheese Rolls also known as Southland Sushi which is a kiwi favourite here in the South Island.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “We were so lucky and blessed to have found all of our amazing vendors, I couldn’t fault them! Kate Roberge, our photographer, was the first vendor we met with. I could talk with her for hours. She is the sweetest and made us feel incredibly comfortable in front of the camera, managing to take amazing images with no posing involved which is great for awkward humans like us!”
