As a (super awesome) celebrant, Victoria had seen more than her fair share of weddings and so by the time her own day finally rolled around, she knew exactly what she wanted – one of those being a bright, pink bridal gown. “My dress was made by New Zealand designer Kelsey Genna (The Flower Bride). Being from New Zealand, it meant a lot to me to have a dress designed and made by a fellow kiwi! I contacted her immediately after we got engaged and knew exactly what I wanted… it ended up being completely perfect!”
Held at her Uncle’s historically listed property in Glebe, New South Wales, Victoria says the venue meant the theme took care of itself “…everything is very bohemian, opulent and just gorgeous. I love a vintage vibe, and I’m completely addicted to pink and gold so that was a given. We wanted a real party vibe to the whole day so decided on canapû? style with HEAPS of bubbly!”
Later guests crowded as Victoria and Sevak performed their first dance which included an Italian tradition involving a tangle of streamers. “It was unbelievable!” says Victoria. “… the pile of streamers that had accumulated around us became a living being, with our guests wearing it and passing it around like a brightly coloured sea creature. It was wonderful to watch, but pretty stinky to be under!”
We Play Records kept guests on the dance floor for hours, while photographer Elise Hassey continued to candidly capture every hilarious moment. “If it wasn’t for all the photos Elise took of our guests and all the little details, our memory of the day would be so different”, says Victoria, whose advice to other brides and grooms is to “GET A GOOD PHOTOGRAPHER AND VIDEOGRAPHER.” And to “breath, hug and focus on the fun stuff!” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
