Smooth and simple was the name of the game for Susan and Shane’s wedding. From the proposal (over a bottle of champagne and pizza) through to the actual celebration, this big day’ was actually quite small – just as the pair had hoped for. With an intimate guest list of just 12, Susan and Shane were adamant about keeping things pretty darn uncomplicated and advise other couples to take the easy-breezy route as well.

£Keep it simple and small, do what suits you best. We found comfort and security in having a smaller wedding with our closest family, it meant we could spend quality time with all of them across the day,— the newlyweds tell us, adding that the inspiration behind their day was drawn heavily from mid-century architecture.

£We adore the fashion and general look from the 1950s and 60s. The dress was vintage and entirely covered in cream coloured iridescent sequins. It didn’t take long to find but ordering online from an overseas vendor without the ability to try it on is nerve-racking. Butch Wax Vintage is the best in the business though so there was nothing to stress about,— says Susan, who admits that it’s difficult to narrow down to just one fave aspect from the wedding.

£Every detail of our special day tied in together perfectly. The celebrant, the music, the food, the house and the floral arrangements all worked together seamlessly.— She goes on, £however, the most memorable moment was walking down the steps together, towards the courtyard where we’d be married.—

Our buddy Jessica Tremp of Brown Paper Parcel was there to capture the special day, and boy did she do just that; Susan adding Jess’s enthusiasm about their gorgeous venue choice shone through in the photos.

A day loaded with amazing memories, Susan and Shane say that they had no regrets – not even Shane’s vows (which talked about flatulence, maybe a bit too much…). £We were happy with every single thing on the day. We wouldn’t change a thing, even if we had to. Everyone involved felt like family and this contributed to it coming off like a big, relaxed celebration. We can’t over-emphasise how incredibly perfect our wedding day was. It really was the most wonderful day with loads of laughs and love.—
