It was (what seemed like) a normal Saturday at work for Siannon, first featured in Issue 14. That is until Kurt began acting strange, keeping quiet and urging her to go straight home – quite a deviation from their norm of having a post-work weekend adventure.
“On my bed was an envelope and a drawing which I had made him a couple of years earlier. The drawing was of a scene out of ‘The Notebook’ with them in the boat surrounded by swans. On the back of the drawing was a beautiful love letter from Kurt, repeating back to me what I had originally written on the drawing. It said meet me at ‘The Shallow’ at 4:45PM sharp (a favourite spot of ours). I knew something was up then.” Long story short – it ended with a ring!
Having originally planned on an outdoor ceremony, the pair were pleasantly surprised when it poured down with rain so they could utilise their local church, Kiama Anglican Church. “It was so intimate and such an emotional part of the day. There isn’t anything I would change, it was perfect.”
With a laid-back, cruisy vibe in mind, the couple opted for a backyard celebration filled with nibbles, drinks and tonnes of good times (with photos by Olguin Photography). “We always knew our reception was going to be at my parents’ house, as you will find no other venue like it. Their gardens are immaculate and my sisters had the same reception tent set up, so Mum and Dad are practically pros now,” explains the bride, who added she’d always wanted their day to be decked out with greenery, candles, florals from Albion Park Florist and ‘natural’ fibres.
“My favourite detail was definitely our reception tent. I knew it was going to look incredible, but I had no idea that it was going to blow my mind that much! From the bridal table, we sat and ate and watched everyone chatting, laughing and having the best time. The afternoon sun began to drop and the candles got brighter and brighter. It looked magical.”
