After a rough night, Mitchell coaxed Sam into getting dressed and going to the beach for a pick-me-up breakfast in Palm Beach. “He surprised me with a boat ride to a picnic set up by his friends, with flowers and cheese and wine (and of course the prettiest ring in the world). In all the excitement, he forgot a cheese knife and glasses for the champagne! Naturally we drank it from the bottle.”
Held at Growwild Wildflower Farm in the Southern Highlands, the couple tells us they were “hooked” as soon as they stepped out of the car. “I spent hours researching venues online to try and force myself to consider other options, but ultimately knew that we’d already found the place where we would get married,” explains Sam, who cast her initial grand plan of elaborate tents and lawn games aside, opting for a more relaxed day.
“I realised that our friends and family would not weep with ecstasy over the croquet, or find spiritual revelation in the perfectly stylised dessert bar. I LOVE these details but realised that the most important part of the day was our friends and family sharing in our happiness, witnessing and supporting a life-changing commitment,” says the bride, who wore Kate Spade accessories and a Nelder Jones gown.
“I looked at approximately SIX BILLION dresses! I didn’t have a vision, but knew I wanted to be comfortable (no corset), and confident (no heels!) and nothing really seemed to hit the mark. After about two months I went to see the ladies at Nelder Jones after being recommended by a friend and they were beyond incredible. They whipped up an absolute dream of a dress and I couldn’t have been happier,” Sam tells us, adding that vendors Dizzy Spit Roasts and Jess Jackson Photography were beyond incredible.
“Jess was amazing. She was so easy to get along with, beautifully presented, friendly and easy-going. Until our wedding day, we did not have ONE good couple photo to our name, but now we have literally gazillions. I can’t praise her enough!”
