Once engaged, Marli and Deejay made a pact to not let themselves become consumed by the wild world of wedding planning. £We started planning the wedding around August and were married in December. We just thought, why not just do it now? We knew the longer we planned a wedding the more money we would spend and the more we would overthink and change our minds on things. So even though it was a bit of a rush to get it all done in time, we are so glad we did it quickly like we did.
A self-confessed £laid-back and easy going couple, Marli and Deejay stayed true to their cruisy complexion with a relaxed, fun and romantic vibe at The Beer Farm. £Candles everywhere, lots of green foliage, brass vessels and deep reds. We both have big families and lots of mutual friends and wanted everyone to be a part of our special day. For us, it was all about getting together with everyone, laughing, dancing, catching up and sharing a few beers and great food together with all our loved ones, the pair tells us, adding that friends and family were largely responsible in the success of their big day.
Marli’s hairstylist and makeup artist, as well as the venue owners, dressmaker, wedding car drivers and more were all friends of the bride and groom, while everything else was sourced locally. £It was so nice to use our friends and contacts to help create our wedding. It made the whole day feel more intimate, says Marli, who was pretty stoked with their photos taken by the uber talented Teneil Kable.
£It’s good to have amazing photos and a video (by Illusory Film) because we both don’t remember as much of it as we would like. The day went by so quickly and we were both on cloud 9 and in the moment so that by the end of the night the whole day felt like a whirlwind.

In spite of such a fast (yet seriously fab) celebration, there was no question that one image, in particular, will stand clear in Deejay’s mind for the ages. £I really liked the ceremony part. It was weird because I didn’t think I would be nervous given we had been together for a long time, but I definitely was! Seeing her walk up the aisle, looking amazing, was really special. Then when we were both up there it seemed as though we were the only ones there. Hearing Marli’s nice words about me in her vows definitely brought on a couple of tears. It was very special to me.
