After jetting off to Perth on holiday, David finally found the perfect opportunity to propose to Lucy while taking on Jacob’s Ladder at Kings Park. The unexpected 300 stair trek and 40 degree heat warranted some much needed refreshments, as Lucy tells us.

£We sat down and took in the view of the city and as Dave pulled out all the ingredients of our picnic the cured meats, the cheeses, the beers he pulled out one more thing, and it was the ring. It really was a perfect picnic.—

Set on getting married within the year, this pair thought a winter wedding at Tambourine Mountain was ideal. That is, until they found out Lucy’s sister/bridesmaid’s little secret she’d been keeping she was pregnant and due late August! £We knew we had to push the wedding back and October seemed like the perfect month, and all our vendors were available at that later date so it worked out really well. And it meant our new little nephew Hugo could be there too!—

Both architects, this couple’s venue was an obvious choice: a beautiful property enriched with a sense of family. Owned by Dave’s parents, Seaview Farm Retreat has had quite a colourful lifetime. Having transformed from a dairy and beef cattle farm to a bed and breakfast full of luxury cabins (Dave’s first design project), Seaview most recently took on the role of wedding venue.

£We didn’t think twice about approaching Dave’s parents about having our wedding there, and I don’t think they thought twice about say yes. We were so lucky to be able to work with such an incredible setting and add another layer of meaning to the place we already loved,— explains Lucy, who envisioned a family dinner inspired by the Australian outdoors for their big day (and captured by legend Luke Going Photography).

Taking on the responsibilities of the dû?cor, the stationery and the signage, this crafty pair definitely had their work cut out for them, but assure us it was well worth their efforts. £We are really happy we undertook so many little (and big) DIY projects. There is something incredibly satisfying about seeing people you love in a setting you have dreamed, thought out, designed and actually made yourself,— says the bride, who, like many others, utilised wedding saviour Pinterest in many aspects, including finding her bridal attire.

£It was perfect simple yet romantic. I looked up local bridal retailers and saw that The Babushka Ballerina stocked Rue De Seine so I arranged an appointment. When I tried on the gown and blouse I fell even more in love with it, and knew I didn’t need to keep looking. It was one of those things that just seemed to happen effortlessly and when I look at the photos from the day I still cannot believe how beautiful it is.—
