Not only did getting married mean that Leah was guaranteed the man of her dreams forever, it was also a chance for her to showcase her styling skills. “I’m a designer so styling and designing for myself was the ultimate creative project for me”, says Leah who took on board everything from the invites to styling the reception to handpicking From The Owl as their gift registry. “Even the little colourful stools at the ceremony, lovingly painted and assembled by me and my husband”, she adds.
It made sense then that her favourite moment was seeing all her hard work, with help from floral styling superstars The Sisters, come together for the first time. “The space was exactly how I had envisaged and seeing that come to life was the most amazing feeling.” Married beneath an enormous fig tree, Charles and Leah’s day, captured by photographer Dan from All Grown Up Weddings was a no fuss affair – “Just a big ol’ party where all our favourite people could drink wine, eat delicious food and dance together”, says Leah who wore a beautiful, coffee coloured gown by Aurelio Costarella.
“Choosing my dress was incredibly difficult. Fortunately, about six weeks before the big day I happened to be watching the MFW highlights when I saw this Aurelio Costarella number. My Mum, bless her socks, hunted it down and by the next day it arrived in a tiny express post package. With a few alterations it was perfect and the search was over.” But the best part of the night came at the end… “when the band played the Game of Thrones theme song. Ive never seen so many nerds on a dance floor.”
