As far as engagements go, sometimes simple is best. For Lauren and Brendan, the lead up to the proposal included a weekend away for Lauren’s birthday – which unfortunately meant rather early morning flight…

“Brendan woke me by jumping on the bed (a dangerous decision given I’m not a morning person) and handed me a birthday card. Inside, we’d made a collage of all different engagement rings with the question will you marry me?”

The brave groom and his bride set about planning their day, with an easy eight month engagement. Having checked out a few venues in their hometown of Wagga, the pair decided on Jaspers, Berry NSW as it was central for their guests, and not to mention a gorgeous coastal town! Sydney based photographer Anna, of Anna Turner Weddings, was there to capture the day – and man did she do a gorgeous job!

Lauren explains that she’s never quite been the woman to have ‘the perfect wedding dress’ in her mind, so when it came to searching for the right gown, the bride describes her search as ‘pragmatic’.

“For me, the decision was ultimately made by my mum’s reaction you know it must be the one when your mum starts to cry!” The dress that got those ‘perfect moment feels’ was none other than the gorgeous Milani gown from Karen Willis Holmes, Lauren adding, “they had a knack for interpreting your personal style, making suggestions, adding things here and there to really make the dress your own.

Taking note of the not to miss details of the night, the pair were pleasantly surprised to find that it was the simple things that pleased their guests, “We didn’t realise how much of a hit the late night ham rolls, donuts and popcorn were going to be!” Duly noted!
