This Sunshine Coast, cocktail wedding will take your breath away. Think sweeping views of the hinterland, rustic native blooms and a personal touch at every turn- from self-written vows, to the song the groom sung about their relationship at the reception. Set on an old dairy farm, the couple were able to create their own ‘boho luxe’ vibe, which was captured perfectly by photographer Janneke Storm

THE THEME Our theme was inspired by our venue and Laura’s dress (the first things we locked in).  Both had a laid-back vibe, but were still refined. We tried to keep this vibe in everything we chose for the wedding, and ended up with a cocktail wedding with food trucks, nice wine and a lively band.

THE DRESS Laura’s Bo and Luca dress was the first and only dress she tried on. It was love at first sight and Laura bought the dress on the spot.

DIY Alec and his dad made this incredible over-sized arbour from trees that he cut down on Alec’s parent’s property. Alec and his mum also put together the honey jars from Alec’s mum’s hives- that we gave out as gifts to our guests.

LITTLE LOL After the band’s first set, Alec took over on the guitar and microphone to play a song that he had written about us.  While the chorus was very sweet and sentimental, the verses were comprised of these hilarious stories from our eight years of being together.  It was a huge hit with the guests.

A WORD OF ADVICE The best weddings are always those that truly reflect the couple. Think of what is important to you and go from there. And as helpful as Pinterest can be, don’t let all the ideas from other people’s weddings cloud that.

REFERENCES Our photographer, Janneke Storm was the first vendor we locked in.  We can’t remember exactly how we came to see her work, but it could have been Hello May!

STANDOUT VENDORS Our standout vendors were our celebrant, Paul Voge, and photographer, Janneke StormPaul was a big help and had great ideas. He even stuck around after the ceremony to help coordinate the family photos. Janneke takes beautiful photos with a great deal of ease (no awkward posing!). On top of that, she stuck around until the very end of the night like a trooper, just so she could get a photo of our sparkler send off.
