Kate had always thought that she’d suspect when Nick was about to propose – little did she know a Valentine’s Day surprise was on the horizon. “We were setting up the picnic when Nick set up a self timer photo, and just as the camera was about to go off he got down on one knee, said some very sweet things, and asked me to marry him! I was so surprised!”
Going for a relaxed vibe with lots of happiness, good food and great friends and family, this couple loved the idea of having lots of beautiful flowers and a vintage feel, created by event stylist/florist extraordinaire One Lovely Day (with help from The Pretty Prop Shop, and Florienne).
“Claire from One Lovely Day worked so hard and together we had so much fun with all the wedding prep. And her creativity is endless! We loved the french antique arch with the beautiful floral arrangements, it was absolutely breathtaking and made the perfect backdrop for our ceremony,” explains Kate, who started gown shopping with only a vision of the type of veil she’d wanted: long mantilla lace.
“At Rue De Seine, we found the perfect one, and together with the Ivy dress, made me feel like I was in a dream! My Mum and Maid of Honour said they couldn’t imagine me in a more perfect dress, so we bought the dress and the veil right then and there!”
While Kate and Nick were glad the rain held out for the ceremony, it absolutely poured down rain during the reception – but they made the best of a ‘bad’ situation. “Everyone was in great spirits – shoes were kicked off and everyone was on the dance floor in a river of water dancing their hearts out! It actually made the day so memorable,” the newlyweds tell us, adding that Coralee Stone Photography was a standout vendor for sure.
“We always knew we wanted amazing photos to look back on and she was a dream! I was recommended her by a friend, and after looking through her website and Instagram, we were sold! She was so easy to deal with, even when we were currently living in a different city!”
