You might remember Juleiahh and Jeremy’s epic wedding from Issue Two of Hello May Magazine. It was one we loved so much we felt like we would be doing a disservice if we didn’t share it with anyone who missed out via our blog.
When Melbourne-based performers Juleiahh and Jeremy began planning their wedding after a long eight-year engagement (also the length of their relationship), they decided to turn it into an incredible ‘festival of love’ that spanned over three days. “Our inspiration behind the theme was to create a relaxed, festival-like environment where all guests were part of making the experience and filling their hearts with love!” says Juleiaah. “We spread the event over three days to ensure optimum time with our loved ones and to get everyone involved.”
On a private property in Mansfield Victoria, they began the super-fun-happy-times with 80 guests, with their ceremony by the property’s dam. After members of the bridal party pitched in with reading vows, ‘Bonita Applebum’ by Tribe Called Quest blasted out as guests danced in the haybale aisles.
And so ensued a delightful few days of feasting, dancing and celebrating! Juleiaah says, “Our favourite detail was having the French-inspired portable train carriage, La Toosh, which we used to serve drinks from and to have speeches and musical acts on from its rooftop stage!”
Over two days, musical acts included the couple themselves: Jeremy as Grey Ghost and Juleiaah as Kisshead, their usual musical personas, along with a huge selection of creative and musical guests – from spoken word artists, dancers and puppeteers to blues artists and DJs. “The second day was a
12-hour unplanned show which was the highlight of the whole wedding for me,” says Juleiaah. “The actual wedding day was hard to take in so I’m thrilled we had a three-day event!
She also finished up the three-day affair with a word of advice. “My motto for life helped me through the massive undertaking of planning this event: Do every task with joy in your heart. Engage your guests in the reason they are all there and that is love, love and more love. Our wedding was a celebration of love. We provided an experience for all to feel and express their own experience of love and it was beautiful to see it unfold. And an amazing photographer is essential. I’m tired of seeing cheesy wedding photos!”
