“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.” – Jane Eyre. One of Bronte’s most remembered heroines, Jane Eyre is deservingly the inspiration behind this inspiration shoot, put together by Melbourne-based photographers Kat and Scout from It’s Beautiful Here, floral stylists Pomp and Splendour and hair and makeup artist Candice DeVille.
“Jane’s strength and vulnerability made Jane Eyre a haunting, romantic and empowering Victorian novel that cast a spell over us as teenagers”, says Kat of her most loved fictional character. With the most incredible, vintage inspired gowns by Nevenka this shoot takes us back in time, with fragile images evoking a sense of nostalgia of days gone by.
Heide Museum of Modern Art provided the perfect backdrop for their shoot while their models looked just the part with 19th century inspire hair and gold shoes by Victorine. And while we may not all want to go back to a time when women were made to wear pantaloons, this look is one that still remains relevant today. Most of all however, we love it! It highlights just how clever the Australian vendors that contributed to this shoot really are. Well done team!
