Our Hello Vendor profiles give you a chance to put a face to the name and allows you to gain some insight into what makes the creative souls you are hiring to shoot/design/bake/style your wedding tick. We’ve introduced you to floristshair and makeup artists and collectors of second hand designer gowns, just to name a few, and today, here we are again, introducing you to Trish, one half of husband and wife duo Tealily Photography. Take is away Trish…

Tell us about your background? Joel and I were high school sweethearts, and followed the crowd a little with our uni degrees. I pursued Finance/Law, and Joel ended up with a Business/IT degree.

How did you fall into photography? My uncle gifted me my first Minolta film camera. Joel had a similar camera and we used to go on little photo outings and then wait in anticipation for our film to be developed. Over time, I realised our passion and strengths came through in portraiture and through one or two lucky breaks (like your best friend asking whether you wanted to be her photographer or her bridesmaid), we built ourselves a portfolio we believed in. I remember being so unsure of whether to stick out my bank job at the time, and for one birthday Joel wrote me out a cheque for $5K and told me to just do it already.  I never banked that cheque but it was the kick in the butt that I needed.

Describe your shooting style in three words? Simple.  Honest.  Beautiful.

Where do you find your inspo? As cliché as it sounds, we are inspired by the love that we witness between couples that come our way. It’s something unique to them and always new to us. There’s always something to capture, something to learn or perceive, and that never gets old.

Any fave venues to shoot at? Our favourite places tend to be outside the city, into the southern highlands or the mountains where space is in abundance, and everything seems a little more carefree.

Any advice for couples nervous in front of the camera? Umm…. I know how you feel? I always tell people there is a reason I’ve created a career for myself behind the lens! On a more serious note, it’s really just a wonderful excuse to enjoy spending time with someone you love and when you allow yourself to focus on that and not think about posing or being too aware of the camera, the nerves quickly float away.

What is your most popular package? Our prices start from $3500 for digital coverage however our most popular package usually includes one of our fine art albums. I’m someone who really believes in having these tangible memories that can be touched and felt and passed onto the generations to come.

When I tied the knot I wish someone told me to… engrave our wedding bands with something special.  Something we overlooked at the time, but the more personalised rings I see, the more I wish we had put a bit of thought into it!

Can Hello May readers score 10% off? Of course! We’d love to offer any Hello May readers that book in a wedding collection with us a 10% discount*, all you need to do is mention your favourite magazine (valid for 2015 bookings only).
