So you have picked up your copy of issue two of Hello May magazine and you’ve seen, being the kind and generous folk our parents raised us to be, that we are giving away a full day wedding photography package for every state* in Australia.
Valued at a whopping $4000** each, that’s $28,000 worth of photographic goodness. The competition is open to any couple set to tie the knot in 2014 who are yet to book their wedding photographer (ie: if you have paid a deposit with another photographer you are not eligible to enter).
You are here now because you have devoured issue two and read up on what you have to do to be in the running to win such a bounty, and now you are keen to know a little bit about the man behind the WA prize…
It is our great pleasure to introduce you to the lovely CJ, of CJ Williams Photography. Not only was CJ nice enough to donate her time, talents and skills to one lucky reader, she also took some time out of her busy schedule to sit down and have a chat with us so you could get to know a little more about the creative soul potentially charged with the task of committing your wedding day to film, or pixels as technology would have it. Take it away CJ…
How long have you been taking photos? I first picked up a camera 11 years ago. I never thought I would shoot weddings, but I gave it a go and I was hooked!
Best thing about shooting weddings is… The people! It’s so great to meet a new family at every wedding and they are always so happy to be celebrating such a special event. I also love the creative aspect, it’s something I can’t live without.
What’s your all time favourite reception location to shoot at? It’s a hard one because there are so many, but I have to say my favourite receptions are held in family backyards. They are so personal and sweet.
Describe your shooting style in 3 words. Candid, relaxed and a bit quirky.
Last time you cried at a wedding? A wedding I photographed at the Quarry Amphiteatre. It was so beautiful I shed a few tears, but I had a camera to hide behind.
Advice for those of us who can get a little nervous in front of the lens? Don’t look at the camera, focus on your partner and how gorgeous they are.
All time fave ‘first dance’ song…. I have a weakness for old rock ballads, picking a fave is way too difficult.
Talk to us about one of your fave weddings, pictured below… Ruhamah and Drew’s wedding was eclectic and creative, with a lot of sentimental touches. They had amazing families who were all incredibly close, and the day was so full of laughs. The couple were childhood sweethearts and were such a perfect match. The look on Drew’s face when his beautiful bride walked down the isle was priceless. I think it was the wholesome, low-key nature of their day that I loved the most.
We are all about supporting local business here at Hello May and think it would be great if you could head on over to CJ’s Facebook page and give her an enthusiastic thumbs up, as she will be announcing the WA winner here on Monday 12 August, 2013.
Entries close on Monday 5 August, 2013.
