Though Emma and Matt had been dating for 10 years, they admit they never really felt rushed to get married, despite people always asking them when it would happen. It wasn’t until their anniversary road trip that when the couple was leaving for dinner, Matt proclaimed he forgot Emma’s gift in their hotel room.
£He rushed back in when I could hear him yelling through the door of our room that he needed a hand with it. I walked in to find him on one knee asking if he could have my hand in marriage instead.”
After looking at quite a few wedding venues, the pair decided that none of them had the intimate feel and good vibes they were searching for. That is, until they visited Berry Courthouse.
“I planned a trip with my mum where I literally had to crawl through the hedge to see the garden as it was locked. (Clearly locks and hedges don’t keep brides out of anything!) Once I got through I was blown away. It was gobsmacking. I knew right there and then it was the place,” explains Emma, who enlisted Blessed Days to help organise the celebration.
Though Emma had some ideas in mind for her wedding gown, and swore she’d never want a strapless, princess-y gown, her sister urged her to try on a gorgeous Karen Willis Holmes dress… and the rest is history.
“The second it was on I swore loudly, my nephew who was 3 at the time, who kept trying to peek under the curtain said wow when I walked out and it was pretty much what we all thought. The minute I had it on I knew it was the one.”
Captured by Justin Aaron, Emma and Matt were beyond pleased with their special day which left them keen to share their new out look on marriage. “Marriage means to me saying that you will be there. That no matter what, even if I am wrong (highly unlikely), even if he is wrong (especially if he is wrong) we will be there for each other backing each other up, every time.”
