Since Kenny’s work commitment took him to Perth for a two year period, he and Alice accumulated quite a few Frequent Flyer points going back and forth in order to spend time together whenever possible. “Our favourite escape on Alice’s trips to Perth was to Margaret River and it was on one of these visits that Kenny proposed. White sand, clear blue water, a bottle of bubbles and a gorgeous diamond ring the rest is history!”
Though they didn’t immediately jump into wedding planning after the proposal, the styling quickly took shape once they booked in their venue – Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens. “We knew we wanted a Melbourne based wedding with an outdoor element to it. We settled on our themes pretty early on and they really shaped the look and feel of the day. These themes were traditional, romantic, elegant, classic and timeless, explains Alice, who admits she had so many favourite details from the day.”
“I loved all the personal DIY touches that we incorporated into the day and seeing our guests reactions and love made it all worthwhile. We made sure we enjoyed the day from start to finish which on reflection is something I will always cherish,” says Alice, who proved the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree when she picked her wedding gown.
“Mum wore a long sleeved dress on her wedding day and I loved the idea of following in her footsteps. Having an idea of what I was after made the shopping process a lot easier and pain free,” she tells us. “My gorgeous lace dress was from One Day Bridal in South Melbourne. It absolutely encompassed the elements I was after from a theme point of view and was the most incredibly beautiful thing I have ever worn!”
Captured by I Got You Babe, these newlyweds pose the question, what’s a wedding without a bit of drama!? “Paramedics on site for a guest who fainted, our flower girl almost ending up in the lake trying to pat the ducks and a tree falling down midway through our ceremony! These are all small things that we’ll always remember as part of our wedding day!”
