After almost a decade together, and a chilled-out, Sunday afternoon proposal, Aley and Corey tied the knot in a sleek wedding in the hinterland of their home town on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. And despite the severe weather warning- the couple were expecting “two months of rain in two days,” photographer, Kim Cartmell managed to capture their modern, industrial style and fun-loving nature in each and every shot…

THE DRESS
I came across the Kingston Gown by Chosen by One Day at One Day Bridal on Instagram. I put it on and straight away I knew it was me. I didn’t want to take it off and locked it in, there and then. The girls at One Day Bridal were so helpful throughout the entire process, I just loved wearing one of their beautiful designs.

A WORD OF ADVICE Don’t loose sight of the big picture. It’s so easy to look at all the other incredible weddings online these days, but just choose the things that you both love and that are a true representation of yourselves. Have fun with it. Oh, and make spreadsheets your best friend. God, I’m such a teacher!

FAVOURITE DETAILS Lauren and her team at Poppy Culture blew my mind. I showed her a few of my ideas and colours in the lead up to the day and gave her the freedom to just go for it. I had complete trust in her and she absolutely nailed it. Also, the team at the Red Hill Epicurean were incredible. They were so accommodating and made us feel at ease with everything.

STANDOUT VENDORS Besides Lauren from Poppy Culture, it would be our celebrant Shannon Jeans. I have never had so many grown men and women say to me that they were in tears. Many more said that it was the best wedding ceremony they have ever attended and how it seemed like she was a friend of ours. She took the time to get to know us and who we are. She painted such a beautiful and accurate picture of the love Corey and I have for each other.

MEMORABLE MOMENT Hands down, the ceremony. I think you always think of the reception and the big party (which is epic), but the ceremony was my favourite part. It felt electric, completely us and really set the tone of the day.

REFERENCES I used a lot of local suppliers on the Mornington Peninsula, trolled Instagram and found a lot of inspiration from Hello May and Pinterest.
