We’ve got to give it to Lior, his proposal to Aimee was all class. £Lior cooked me dinner – the exact same meal he cooked for me on my first invitation to his place, recalls Aimee, one of our bride’s from issue eight.
£Then, he told me he needed 10 minutes alone to prepare a special gluten free dessert. When I came back into our living room there were flowers and candlelight everywhere and we slow danced to the song I told him I always wanted to do my bridal waltz to (You and Me’ by Penny and the Quarters). He proposed during the slow dance. No dessert to be seen, but this was the icing on the cake.
There was no dessert at their wedding either but considering their venue’s incredible views of Sydney Harbour, it’s likely no one noticed. £As we had half our guests coming from Melbourne (where we live) we wanted them to experience a setting that was typically £Sydney and that Melbourne weddings couldn’t offer, says Aimee who hired wedding planner and stylist Glenda Graff (whose work you may have spied in our Real Wedding Special) and florist Samantha Cox to help create an utterly unforgettable day that was £colourful, vibrant and summery.
Blessed with perfect blue skies, they married beneath a handmade Jewish chuppah before making their way with photographer Lara Hotz and the ladies from Light Noise Films to Deckhouse where Lior would later deliver his best speech yet. £Lior’s had the honour of being MC at four weddings so there was some expectation and intrigue surrounding his own wedding speech.
I loved how Lior spoke meaningfully and expressively but also managed to weave in his hilarious sense of humour, says Aimee who in keeping with their cheerful theme, worked with the shape of her Temperley London dress to create £a little bit of a Frida Kahlo look.
£Deep pinks and plums are good with my complexion so I used these colours in the flowers in my hair, my lipstick and nail polish on the day. Even though I don’t usually wear my hair up too often, I went with a braid crown to show the neckline and open back of the dress.
With the formalities done and dusted it was time for Ilan Kidron (The Potbelleez lead singer and now the front man of Glass Party Music) to take the stage and for everyone to let loose (cue the Hora). £The party got wild and everyone got really into it, says Aimee. And that was before the after party.
£Our guests went home from the venue on a ferry. One of the guests found a speaker cord and attached his phone to it. The next minute they were pumping music and that’s when the unplanned after party happened. We’ll be damned if that’s not the sign of a good time.
