Breellen and Daniel recently tied the knot on a little patch of grass in the Southern Highlands called Summerlees. If you are planning a wedding south of Sydney and you haven’t heard of this place then something is seriously wrong! Immaculate gardens, heritage buildings and the opportunity to get photo bombed by a goat! What more could you want out of a wedding location? The chance to BYO a selection of your fave wines perhaps? Yep, you can do that here too!
Breellen, who grew up in the Southern Highlands wanted “a wedding out of the city, but not too far for people to travel”. She goes on to say “the grounds of Summerlees are so beautiful and perfect for a vintage garden wedding which is exactly what we were after. Another great thing was that no one had to leave – we held our ceremony in the garden, and had drinks and the reception onsite straight after.”
Every tiny detail of the day was expertly photographed by Hello May favourite Scott Surplice Photography. Daniel tells us “It was like Scott was one of our wedding guests! He is relaxed, but professional and managed to perfectly capture the look and feel of the day. Scott captured some really special moments and we did not even know he was there.”
One of our favourite details has to be their choice of entertainment in Slide McBride. Breellen explains “hiring Slide McBride was one of the best decisions we made – our wedding would not have been half as fun, or as memorable, without them. Slide is very charismatic and he and his band fitted perfectly with the venue and the theme. Throughout the day they played tirelessly and adapted their music and style to suit the mood. During drinks and dinner they roamed around the garden and marquee, playing jazz and mingling and interacting with our guests. After dinner, they set up in the ballroom – the music was so catchy and energetic – no one could resist the dance floor and Slide McBride made sure everyone had fun right until last drinks.”
Props also need to go out to mother of the bride / all round DIY super star Valerie, who we are told made metres and metres of paper doily bunting for the marquee. Obviously we could go on and on about the details of this stunning location but we will wrap it up here and let Scotts delightful photos tell the rest of the story…
