For a pair that met in a design tutorial, it was inevitable that Cleo and Boz (who’s engagement pics by Merge Photography we brought you here) would end up with a wedding crammed with DIY elements. From the bunting and the rest of the decorations to the stationery they designed themselves… “We designed the invitations, incorporating vintage prints and some typefaces we had fallen in love with. We kept the bird and nest theming fairly subtle throughout the decor, but we weren’t afraid to let it fly on the invitations.” After having the invites printed overseas by an Etsy vendor they say was a dream to work with and had an eye for beautiful paper, the couple then had the remaining elements printed closer to home; “We designed the other elements (table numbers, seating plan, menus etc.) and had them printed locally through our friends at Discus Digital. We had fun creating the kids’ menus in particular – our pug Napoleon got a starring role in the maze on the back!”

Cleo’s mum also offered up a good dose of DIY goodness on the day, as she arranged all the flowers they’d bought (and nicked ever-so-gratefully from gardens of friends and family!) with the help of a few aunties, while also crafting up the fellas boutonnieres with brooches, berries and feathers. Meanwhile, Cleo managed to inherit her mother’s perfectly fitting wedding dress!

The couple chose their location located not far from Perth due to, “the great food and the incredible view! It was also important to us to have the ceremony and location in the same spot – we wanted to spend every minute of it with our family and friends and not take a break to travel between locations or head off to take photos in-between.” And so they decided on a ‘first look’, having their pics taken before the ceremony.

A moment of (semi) alone time came though when the pair took a walk mid celebrations. “We attempted to grab a moment of fresh air and stole off on our own for a mini-walk mid-reception – only to find ourselves flanked either side by two of Boz’s amazing nephews. So we linked arms, went on our walk as a foursome and it couldn’t have been a more perfect time-out!”
